Galt Pharmaceuticals® Shortens Work Week, Cites Work-Life Balance
August 06, 2021
ATLANTA (August 6, 2021) – When today’s focus of many workplaces is on getting more work done remotely, a company headquartered in Marietta, GA is giving employees one workday back every week in the name of work-life balance.
“We have always had a family-first culture and want to offer our teams more work-life balance to further reinforce that,” said Galt CEO and co-founder, Barry Patel, Pharm.D. “Our teams work hard and are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of patients, but they also need time to recharge batteries and dedicate to the self and the family. We believe that will lead to more efficiency and productivity in the long-run”.
The move to give employees a four-day week schedule was spearheaded to retain and attract talent in a competitive labor market, according to Tracy Define, VP of Corporate Systems. She explained that the traditional work week was built on the manufacturing and standard industry workplace during the industrial age. At the time, 40-hour weeks and employees’ physical presence were needed to keep production on schedule.
“That was over 100 years ago!” she said. “We have great confidence and trust in our staff. We understand that people don’t want to be time-bound by a traditional work-week and they appreciate the opportunity to be valued for their results.”
Company leaders say they are thrilled to give employees flexibility with three days away from work without any cut in pay to truly recharge and achieve a better work-life balance.
“We understand that this may not work for all industries and professions, but it works for us and our culture because it’s built around trust,” Patel added.
